Custom closets for Oxnard homes
Walk-in closets, reach-in systems and built-in wardrobes for Oxnard bedrooms, designed around what you own and built to order in our Newbury Park shop.
Start with what you own
Every closet we design starts with an inventory rather than a catalog: how much long and short hanging you need, how many folded items, how many pairs of shoes, and what you want out of sight. From there we lay out the hanging sections, shelves and drawers and show you the closet in 3D before anything is built.
Conejo Woodworks builds every closet to order in our Newbury Park shop and installs it in your home, so the people who planned it are the ones who make the final adjustments.
Closets in Oxnard homes
Oxnard’s homes range from waterfront houses in Mandalay Bay and around Channel Islands Harbor to beach houses in Oxnard Shores, golf-course homes in River Ridge and long-established inland neighborhoods. Closet sizes vary just as much.
In many older tract homes the bedroom closets are reach-ins with a single rod and one shelf. A planned layout with double hanging, a shelf tower and a few drawers can hold far more without making the closet any bigger.

Walk-in closets
A walk-in gives you room for the features that make a closet easy to use every day:
- Drawer banks sized to what you fold
- Double and long hanging sections
- Shoe shelves and LED-lit open shelving
- An island or a bench where the floor space allows
- Floor-to-ceiling adjustable shelving
Reach-ins, wardrobes and kids’ rooms
For a standard reach-in we plan tall hanging, double hanging and a center shelf column so every inch of the opening is used. Where a room has no closet, or not enough of one, a built-in wardrobe adds storage that looks like part of the house.
In kids’ rooms, adjustable shelving lets the closet change as they grow, and a desk and bookcase can be built into the same wall.
Closet materials and hardware
We build closets from melamine panels, a thermally fused laminate, and from hardwood plywood, in solid colors and textured woodgrains. Drawers run on Blum full-extension, soft-close runners, and drawer boxes can be dovetailed Baltic birch.
Accessories include closet rods, pull-out baskets, pant, tie and belt racks, valet racks and jewelry organizers. See what goes into our cabinets.
Near the coast
Closets near the harbor and the beach deal with more humidity than inland rooms. We talk through panel and finish options with that in mind, and open shelving and ventilated layouts can help clothes and shoes breathe.
The same planning works beyond the bedroom: walk-in pantry shelving, laundry and mudroom cabinets, and home office desks. See pantry and laundry cabinets.

Questions about your project
How much does a custom closet cost?
It depends on the size of the closet, the layout and the materials and finishes you choose. After a free consultation and measurement we give you a quote, and the 3D design lets you adjust features to fit your budget.
Can you add a wardrobe to a room without a closet?
Yes. A built-in wardrobe can add closet storage to a room that has none, or supplement a small reach-in closet.
Can a reach-in closet really hold more?
Usually, yes. Replacing a single rod and shelf with double hanging, a shelf column and drawers makes much more of the same opening.
Do you build closets in homes near the harbor?
Yes. We serve all of Oxnard, and we talk through panel and finish choices for coastal homes during design.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Conejo Woodworks holds California Contractors State License Board license #976852 (C-6 Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry).
