Built-ins and media walls for Oxnard homes
Entertainment centers, wall units, bookcases and fireplace surrounds for Oxnard living rooms, sized to the wall and built to order in our Newbury Park shop.
A wall that does more
Conejo Woodworks designs, builds and installs built-ins for homeowners in Oxnard: media walls and entertainment centers, wall units with display shelving, bookcases, fireplace surrounds and floating shelves. Each one is sized to the wall, scribed to the floor and ceiling, and built to order in our Newbury Park shop.
A well-planned built-in can hide the cables and components, give books and collections a home, and frame a fireplace or a view, all on one wall.
Planning around the TV and the fireplace
For media walls we plan the openings for the TV, speakers and components with you, and coordinate with your electrician on outlet and cable locations. For fireplace walls we balance the firebox, the mantel and the cabinetry on either side. The 3D design shows proportions and shelf spacing before anything is built.

Living rooms in Oxnard homes
Many Oxnard homes, from inland tract houses to newer two-story homes and golf-course homes in River Ridge, have a family room built around one long wall or a fireplace. Those walls are where a built-in pays off most.
In waterfront and beach homes at Mandalay Bay, Channel Islands Harbor and Oxnard Shores, the best wall often faces the water. There, low consoles and open shelving can add storage without blocking the view.
Built for the room it lives in
Built-ins are scribed to the floor, walls and ceiling so they look like part of the house, and the finish can match your trim or contrast with it. Boxes are hardwood plywood, doors come from Corona Millworks, and doors and drawers close on Blum soft-close hardware, with push-to-open TIP-ON fronts where you want a clean face. See what goes into our cabinets.
Media walls we’ve built in Camarillo
Just up the 101 in Camarillo we’ve built a white media wall with display niches, gray media walls with open shelving towers, and a charcoal media console with floating shelves. See built-ins in Camarillo or our Lake Sherwood media wall story.
Storage that doesn’t look like storage
A good built-in mixes closed and open space. Base cabinets hold games, remotes and media gear behind doors, while open shelves above carry books and display pieces. Drawers can be sized for blankets or records, and lit shelving can highlight a collection at night. In smaller rooms, a low console with floating shelves gives the same storage without taking over the wall.

Questions about your project
Can you hide the cables and components?
Yes. We plan the openings for the TV, speakers and components with you and coordinate with your electrician on outlet and cable locations.
Do you build fireplace surrounds and mantels?
Yes. Mantels and fireplace surrounds are part of our custom millwork, often combined with built-in cabinets and shelving on either side.
Can a built-in match my existing trim?
Yes. Built-ins are finished to match the room’s trim and style, or to contrast with it if you prefer.
How long does a built-in take to install?
Installation typically takes 1–2 days for smaller projects, followed by finishing work.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Conejo Woodworks holds California Contractors State License Board license #976852 (C-6 Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry).
