Kitchen cabinets for Pacific Palisades rebuilds and remodels

Whether your house is being rebuilt after the Palisades Fire or you are updating a kitchen in a house that is still standing, we plan the cabinets with you, make them in our Newbury Park shop and fit them once the room is ready.

Starting from the plans

Many Pacific Palisades owners are rebuilding after the January 2025 Palisades Fire, and for months the new kitchen exists only on paper. That is a good time to design it. We can lay out the cabinets from your architect’s plans and show you the room in 3D design software, so you can walk through it, resize an island or rework a pantry wall long before anything is framed.

A settled cabinet layout also gives the other trades firm numbers: where the sink and dishwasher sit, where the range and hood go, and which walls need outlets above the counter or inside a cabinet.

Where cabinets fall in a rebuild

On a new house, cabinets come late. Foundation, framing, roofing, the plumbing and electrical rough-in, insulation and drywall all happen first, and the cabinets go in once the walls are finished. Stone countertops are usually templated after the cabinets are installed, and appliances follow.

Because most kitchens take 4–8 weeks from design approval to installation, we ask your general contractor when the kitchen will be ready for cabinets and plan backward from that date. Design approval and the build in our shop are lined up so the cabinets are finished just as the room is ready for them, without sitting in storage or holding up the next trade.

Decisions to make before the walls close

  • Appliance models, including panel-ready refrigerators and dishwashers that take cabinet fronts
  • Range width and hood size, so the hood surround and the cabinets beside it fit
  • Island size, seating overhang and any prep sink or outlets in the island
  • Tall pantry and oven cabinets, and where they meet windows and doors
  • Lighting under and inside the cabinets, wired by your electrician

Each of these is quick to change on a drawing and much harder to change after drywall.

Updating a house that is still standing

Not every Palisades project is a rebuild. Homes in the neighborhood range from mid-century houses to large custom homes, and when the kitchen is staying in place we start differently: we come to the house, measure the existing room and talk through what works today and what does not.

If the rest of the house is keeping its cabinetry or trim, we can build the new kitchen to match it, so the updated room still looks like part of the home. The work can extend to a wet bar or wine storage or a pantry and laundry room.

Built to order in Newbury Park

Our shop at 817 Mitchell Rd Ste 205, Newbury Park, builds every cabinet for your specific kitchen. The boxes are made from hardwood plywood by Columbia Forest Products, most often in prefinished white maple. Corona Millworks makes our doors and drawer fronts in shaker, five-piece or slab profiles, paint- or stain-grade. For a flat modern look, Lioher slab fronts come in high-gloss, super-matte or textured woodgrain finishes.

Hinges and drawer runners are Blum, with soft-close motion. Spice and base pull-outs, pull-out trash, tip-out trays and a mixer lift can all be planned in. See what goes into our cabinets.

Delivery and installation

Setting a kitchen’s cabinets usually takes 4–5 days, then finishing work and final adjustments to doors and drawers. Once the cabinets are set and level, your countertop fabricator can template the tops.

We coordinate with your general contractor, designer and the other trades; the general contractor keeps the permits, and our workmanship is covered by a 1-year warranty. Planning closets too? See custom closets in Pacific Palisades.

Questions about your project

Can you design our kitchen from the architect’s plans before the house is framed?

Yes. We lay out the cabinets from your plans and show them to you in 3D, so the layout is settled while plumbing, electrical and appliance locations are still easy to change.

How early in a Palisades rebuild should we call you?

As early as possible. Design, your approval and the build in our shop all take time, so we plan backward from the date your contractor expects the kitchen to be ready.

Do the cabinets go in before or after the countertops?

Before. The cabinets are installed first, and stone countertops are usually templated on the installed cabinets by your countertop fabricator.

Can the new kitchen match cabinets elsewhere in the house?

Yes. When a project calls for it, we build the new kitchen cabinetry to match the existing cabinets and trim.

Do you pull the building permits?

No. Permits for the house stay with your general contractor or another member of the project team; they are outside our scope.
